For our anniversary Shon and I took a belated trip to K.C. because the first weekend of each month they have an antique event in the West Bottoms warehouse district where hundreds of dealers set up shop inside vacant warehouses.

Along with the opportunity to visit so many antique dealers in one location, the energy surrounding the event is just plain fun! I compare it to a Downtown Sioux Falls First Friday event. Many vendors share complimentary beverages, snacks and stories with you as you shop their boothes. The selection is impressive and the prices are fair.

The one item I had on my wish list was everyday dishes for our kitchen. I decided a while back that I’d begin collecting Buffalo café ware – or other brands but the same thick, white dishes with thin green lines around the edge. About five hours into our hunt I found four plates to add to my growing collection!

I started the collection with a bowl that had belonged to my Aunt Jenny (a rummage sale queen!) She left several of her fun dishes to me when she passed away. From there, I found four oval plates and some coffee mugs at a local thrift shop. Now I just need to find some bowls!
