Lura Roti is a graduate of South Dakota State University. She earned a Master of Mass Communications as well as bachelor’s degrees in Agriculture Journalism and Speech Communications.
She has worked as a freelance journalist for more than two decades. And she loves sharing her knowledge with the next generation. Lura teaches a writing course for the University of Sioux Falls.
Lura grew up on a ranch in western South Dakota but today she calls Sioux Falls, S.D. home.
Lura is a proud FFA and 4-H alumnus, serving as 1998-1999 South Dakota State FFA Reporter.
She is a graduate of South Dakota Agriculture & Rural Leadership – Class IV. In 2016, the Mayor of Sioux Falls appointed her to serve on the City of Sioux Falls Board of Preservation. She served six years. In 2022, Lura was elected to serve as a South Dakota State Historical Society Trustee.
When she's not on assignment, Lura loves being Parker's mom and enjoys working with her husband, Shon to renovate their 1880s home located in the Cathedral Historic District. The Roti family are active neighborhood advocates.
